Jets Outscore The Lions 31-24
Is it me or is it Groundhog’s Day? It seems like every Lions game (except for week one) has been the same. The Lions defense can’t seem to slow any team down, and no matter how many points the offense puts up, they aren’t enough. Sure, the Lions outlasted the Bills last week, but this week they couldn’t put up enough points to top the Jets.
As usual, the Lions offense was very effective. Kevin Jones rushed for 86 yards on just 15 carries. Kitna tossed for 269 yards and 3 TDs. He also had a couple interceptions, but for the most part, he looked pretty good. Mike Furrey came up big in the receiving game, topping 100 yards on the day.
The NY Jets running game was absolutely dominating today. Rookie Leon Washington rished for 129 yards on only 20 carries. The Lions defense certainly missed Shaun Rogers (suspended for violation of the league’s banned substances policy) today as the Jets just couldn’t be stopped. If the Lions defense just could have slowed down the Jets, they probably could have won this won stole a win here. In fact, after the game, receiver Roy Williams stated “That was a very winnable game,” Williams said. “Once again, we were our own worst enemy today: penalties and turnovers.”
